Openize?

Openize: (verb)  To increase the capacity to integrate and sustain open technologies, networked collaboration, interchangeable components, and transparent processes.

OeG 1.0 applied this concept to ICT ecosystems.

OeG 2.0 will help organizations openize their businesses at all levels.

Organizations must "openize" to innovate.

OeG 1.0

In September 2005, Open ePolicy Group, based at Harvard's Berkman Center for Internet & Society, launched the Roadmap for Open ICT Ecosystems. Webcast live from World Bank headquarters, the OeG introduced a new vision of ICT to the world.

OeG 1.0 represented an unprecedented collaboration among:

• officials from 13 nations
• thought leaders from 5 global organizations
• two leading technology companies; and
• one of the world's most respected universities.

The Roadmap for Open ICT Ecosystems is a meta-level framework of best practices, case studies and tools aimed at sensitizing policymakers, CIOs, industry and others to the benefits of open ICT ecosystems.

The Roadmap enjoyed instant media attention globally, and 50,000 downloads in the first month alone. Today, the Roadmap is the basis for major ICT initiatives worldwide.

OeG 2.0

The Roadmap for Open ICT Ecosystems aimed to change people's "mental models" about technology, offering a path for introducing openness across ICT ecosystems.

OeG 2.0 will go further, delivering a set of tools to drive business transformation. It will not focus solely on ICT, but aim to openize the policy, service and business levels that define enterprises.
